The European Expo Jazz Festival, set in the historic town of Riola Sardo, is one of the most popular jazz events in Italy. It started in 2004 and for the last nine years it took place in Cagliari. This summer, for the first time, it will move to ‘Parco dei Suoni’ in Riola Sardo (Oristano). The festival will consist of 40 concerts across 3 stages with almost 150 artists taking part. The event will run from 2nd to 5th July.
This year’s highlights include the Japanese pianist Hiromi, performing with her trio; the Cuban composer and pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba; the Volca’n Quartet, with Giovanni Hidalgo, Armando Gola and Horacio El Negro Hernande; and the British acid jazz band, Incognito. The lineup for the long weekend also includes the American singer Kurt Elling and his band; the French guitarist Biréli Lagrène and Gipsy Project; Elektro Guzzi from Austria; Enrico Rava, Antonio Faraò and the Funk Off band.
